Being in a conservation area the double glazing had to be installed in to hard wood surrounds that had to be made by a local carpenter that they installed and retain the original wood surrounds. We took advantage of the Government subsidy to install extra loft insulation to the new depths required. We have replaced all but essential rapid lighting with low energy light bulbs. Originally we used to fill a large wheelie bin every week now a smaller one once a month as we recycle all plastic, tins, glass and waste food including the items left in our customer's rooms. We try to walk to the shops whenever practical and we make use of the train from Buxton to Manchester to reduce polution.
